A native species of the Carolina's which is unknown to many is the native American azaleas , also called deciduous azalea. New hybrids of the American azalea display multiple trusses of vivid orange, pink, red and yellow colors that lure hummingbirds and insects to sip the nectar.

While living in Wisconsin for over 25 years, I always enjoyed adventures in the area State Parks.The Wisconsin and Minnesota Interstate State Parks were my frequent playgrounds for hiking, biking and canoe ing with friends. Many of the images in this gallery were taken along the river banks of the beautiful St. Croix River. The Dalles of the St. Croix River will forever live in my heart.

Cascades of tumbling water lure many to the trails in search of waterfalls. An adventurous hiker to the "Blue Wall" escarpment of the Blue Ridge Mountains of north western South Carolina will discover over 25 waterfalls.
This mountain region is also home to many rare plant species, over 200 species of trees and an abundance of wildlife.

Thousands of different species live in the oceans ,salt marshes and coastal zones. All living things are dependent on water and now ,more than ever ,it is vital that we all protect and conserve this priceless resource and the creatures that live in the water habitats.

From dusk to dawn, the sky will display many different moods through an array of colors and clouds depending upon the particulates in the atmosphere and weather conditions. Capturing vivid celestial tapestries at sunrise and sunset are my favorite times to create images.

Tiny grains of pollen and grasshopper eyes come into focus when viewed in the macro world of photography. Extension tubes were used to capture these images that highlight the small details of the natural world only seen by the more inquisitive observer.

Insect trivia states there are 8 MILLION insects to every person alive. It's no wonder that many of this class fall under the lens of cameras. Exploring the "small" world opens our eyes to an aspect of nature that often goes unnoticed to the casual observer.

Capturing wildlife in their natural habitat through the lens is very challenging. By studying animal behavior and practicing patience, dramatic images can be created. The essence of nature is displayed in the many cycles observed in the natural world, including the life and death struggles witnessed in the animal world.
